Join us for a thought-provoking evening of conversation around the theme of spatial awareness with Ling Tan and Kelly Chorpening.
Kelly will look at the subject from her perspective as an artist investigating different ways of drawing, while Ling will talk about her experience using new technologies to raise people’s awareness of how they can engage with their environment.

Ling Tan is a designer, maker and software developer who trained as an architect in Singapore and at the Bartlett School of Architecture. She now specialises in social wearables, using this technology as a tool to help communities express their relationship with their city through their own subjective perception. She is currently working as a senior designer at Umbrellium where she leads work on wearables and air quality.
Ling will discuss how technologies can help people make sense of the environment around them and how we can harness collective actions to bring about changes in our cities.
Kelly Chorpening is an artist, author, lecturer and educator. She is currently Course Leader for BA(Hons) Fine Art: Drawing at Camberwell College of Arts/UAL. Many of Kelly’s projects are co-developed as books published internationally. Her most recent collaboration is as co-editor and contributor to “A Companion to Contemporary Drawing” to be published in 2019 by Wiley Blackwell.
Kelly will explore drawing as a process rather than a product. She will focus on drawing’s capacity to engage with place, expanding its definition to include movement in space and time
